Fly Fishing Naples FL- DIY

Pier caught Snook

While Naples enjoys some fantastic weather the fishing action along the beach and Famous Pier is constant.  Spanish Mackerel are predominant as they prepare to strike at any balling bait fish.  Fish of 14-22 inch will put a serious bend in the rod, but, do be quick to get them up and out of the water as the pod of ever present dolphin are very quick to chase down and remove them from your line.

Snook also lurk and can be taken with a well placed cast from the pier or the beach..  left is my first of the trip.  If fishing for Snook remember they remain out of season so catch and release only.. and please do handle and release with care.  Who knows next time you see that fish it may have put on a few pounds,  I know I do every time I come.
Fly selection, and the all important "White snook fly"
