Sonik

Review

Sonik Outfit  reviewed 24 April 2010.
Lake side with the Sonik outfit today, this was the SK 3 with the sk4 line loaded. The outfit works very well indeed, smooth casting action, and such a light rod this will be great with beginners.
The outfit made light work of the situation, from roll casts to double hauling it delivered ever time. With the fixed hood on the reel seat, connecting the sk4 reel was a dream, (no more fumbling around).
Tip: If using the sk4 line, cut back on the backing, this is a long line and with the belly needs a little space.
Finally, the outfit was rewarded with a cracking fully finned Rainbow, just a smidgen under 6lb.

Challenge for Sonik; will we see the #5/6 as a 4 section with snake rings ?

Sonik Deluxe Gear bag and 10 Reel case.  reviewed 29 October 2010.

Received these two bags yesterday, with the return of a new top section for my SK3,(unfortunately broke it last time out) must add,  Sonik service was second to none , thank you Sonik.

Deluxe Gear bag, with it's wide mouth opening is simply huge. Both bags are finished to a very high standard, from the waterproof bottom on the Gear bag to the carrying straps.  The Gear bag storage is really flexible with robust detachable Velcro sections that ensure some organised storage (subject to owner). With external pockets (all fitted with water resistant zippers), this simply offers bags of space.  Highly recommend.

Deluxe 10 reel case, another good looking and practical bag, starts with a firm moulded base for increased durability, with separate tippet and leader pouches offering secure storage, the additional padding to the top  presents good protection to the interior.  As an instructor, I aways like to carry spare safety glasses, for client use,  these sit well protected within the adjustable pockets.  Would definitely recommend.

Take a look , follow the Sonik link from our web site, http://www.thatfly.com/

Snowbee

Review

Snowbee Bum Bag  reviewed 25 April 2010.

If like me you are looking for lighter ways to travel and fish, but are fed up with a bum bag around your ankles, then look no further. The Snowbee bum bag, offers some great space to store all those bits and pieces. Robust zippers ensure safe storage (if you do them up !!) and neat side pockets for leaders, loops and tippet. The bag comes complete with demountable drink and phone case. As for the "genius item", well that is the belt band, this carries a neat rubberised non slip backing, keeping the bum bag where it should be.
One personal issue for me however, is colour , "nobody can pull in dark green khaki" !!!

Snowbee Saltwater Pliers reviewed 04 May 2010.

With the tropical scene and saltwater fly fishing fast becoming the place to challenge the most seasoned anglers, equipment for these testing and destructive conditions have to be top notch... Saltwater pliers come in various shapes and size, but Snowbee's recent introduction hit the spot with value in mind.  This well engineered tool not only looks the part, its replaceable cutter make short work of heavy mono, braid and wire. The pliers are housed in a neat (light weight ) EVA nylon laminated sheath which is connected with a coiled lanyard. I did feel the belt eye could have been wider, but over all these are great to use.
Lure anglers, check out the (optional ) stainless split ring jaws.. no more blue air from pinched finger tips.

Snowbee Prestige Fly Rod  reviewed 26 June 2010.

As soon as I picked up the rod tube, it was clear that this was going to be a quality item.  This was the 4 section rod 9' #6, very light and with a quality finish. With a slick fast action the rod produced supreme lifting power, yet delivers such a delicate cast with little effort required.
From the reel seat (a striking section of maple burl wood) to the tip ring , you would be hard pressed to find a better tool. As for value, check it out for yourself by following the Snowbee link on our web or blog, http://www.thatfly.co.uk/ , http://www.thatfly.blogspot.com/  can't go wrong .

Snowbee GEO #560 fly reel

With a large arbor design, line retrieve is quick and effective, as for appearance, the reel is a stunner, very light and when matched to the above rod, you have some great value and very high quality kit that will last you a life time. Easy access to change from left to right hand wind, you can even set the reel to quiet run (if you don't like the click click of a running fish).
Would like to try the new 910 salt version....
