30 Spring Beginners.......

Thirty spring beginners took to the lakeside for their first ever fly fishing session. Traveling from various location across the country, the newbies would not be put off even if they did have to endure a few April (heavy) showers during the morning session.

Following a briefing and casting demonstration club members buddied up to talk through and set up rods ready for action. With hats and safety glasses on , it was off to the water. Early results were encouraging with a number of fish being taken before midday, the rather seductive, Blue flash damsel proving to the be 'that magic fly' ......

Lunch time BBQ
A very excited group had soon worked up an appetite so it was back to the lodge for very well deserved refreshment and a BBQ lunch.

Stories of catches and what could have been, abounded, to say an 'enthusiastic' approach would be an understatement, fed and watered the group were soon back to the water rod in hand. Rob Lake attending after a late night of Carp fishing, was truly converted taking a fantastic Rainbow of over 9lbs.... Spotted on the far bank Rob had delivered few casts only to be refused. A quick change of fly and a well placed cast saw an immediate reaction from his quarry, speeding up his newly learnt retrieve the fish simply could not resit the offering and engulf 'That Fly' with gusto, following a heart stopping battle Rob's fish entered the net, much to the relief of the now collective crowd. Rob went on the claim the prize of a complete outfit for his magnificent catch....... I know Rob will be back, as too the majority of the group. Not only did we land some cracking fish, but we also landed some new enthusiastic new recruits to the art of fly fishing. Below Adrian plays out his first ever Rainbow.... Well done Adrian, a true natural who casting went from strenght to strenght thoughout the day
A determined Adrian plays out his fish.
Tightlines to all and a huge thank you to the coaches and volunters who made the day such a fantasic event.
